Narrative
TOLEDO, OH – An 86-year-old woman died on Friday morning after crashing her vehicle along a busy roadway in western Toledo.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on the westbound side of Western Avenue near Champion Street, which is north of Highland Park and Toledo Zoo.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the woman lost control of her car, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole. The force of the crash caused the vehicle to overturn and the utility pole to fall.
The woman, identified as Carole Loth, died after transport to a local hospital.
Officials warned of closures and an extended delay while crews worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
