Narrative
EMPIRE, OH – A truck driver died Thursday after losing control of his semi and crashing along a state highway in Empire.
The incident happened in the morning at the northbound entrance ramp to OH-7 from OH-152. This is just west of the state border between Ohio and West Virginia.
The investigation thus far indicates that the 73-year-old driver of an 18-wheeler hauling water lost control of the truck and left the roadway. At this point, the semi overturned after hitting a guardrail.
The driver died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Jackie Chase.
At this time, police do not suspect impairment on the part of the driver.
The investigation is ongoing.
